It's been a very long time since I'm been on this blog. I thought I was going to get it back up and running three years ago, however, I went in a new direction with teaching. I was asked to lead my school into becoming a Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math academy. I was able to accomplish this goal by making it part of a teacher leadership capstone project. Needless to say I've been very busy with all things STEAM for the past three years. I will make sure to stop by and make regular posts from now on. I've been asked by teachers to keep a log of what I do. I'll try my best.
Happy new school year. I hope the best for everyone.

Long time away
I'm going to restart this blog next week to welcome my school families. I'm trying to use technology more and to get information out to parents. Please be kind as I'm still learning how the blog world works.

Kindergarten Common Core Workbook
I'm back with another post about the new Kindergarten Common Core Workbook that is available for kindergarten teachers everywhere. This new workbook is filled with colorful pages to support the common core standards in both language arts and math. I downloaded the sample and I can't wait to get the entire book to use with my students. There are standards to print and work to support each standard. The Kindergarten Common Core Workbook http://corecommonstandards.com/core-curriculum/kindergarten-common-core-workbook/ has over six hundred pages of support and you can buy it now. Here is another picture of the book that will make your life easier for sure.

Kindergarten Common Core
Happy Back to school. I'm back and I really need to pay attention to this blog. I just read about a new book that was just released a few days ago for kindergarten teachers. It is Kindergarten Common CoreWorkbook and it has six hundred pages of both language arts and math standards and worksheets etc to help us support these new standards. I downloaded the preview and it's outstanding. You can check it out by going to http://core.commonstandards.com/core-curriculum/kindergarten-common-core-workbook/. I'm telling you this is really going to help focus on each standard the way it should be taught the first time around. There are also other grade levels too just in case you teach a combo.

Happy New Year
Here we are in 2011 and I am happy to report that I will be using this blog to help reach out to my students and their families. I have so many ideas and resources to share and this will be the place to do just that. I intended from the beginning to do that but as we all know life often gets in the way.
National Board renewal is under way as I type. I am really stressed over this once again, but it is a great learning experience and it does, in fact, make me a better teacher and creates s stronger impact on student learning.
The first tip of the new year is to have your kinder bunny write thank you notes to everyone who gave them a holiday gift. This is a great reason to write, spell and use their fine motor skills. Have them draw the art too for the card so it's an orginal masterpiece. My boys just finished their cards and they are so cute.

Happy Earth Day
I forgot to share that my kinder bunnies and I were waiting for our five butterflies to hatch and they did this past week. Two on Tuesday, two on Wednesday and the last little one was on Earth Day. We were so excited that all five hatched. They drink watermelon juice, and carnations before they were released Friday afternoon. My first grader was very upset that he didn't get to see them before they left, but they had to go. Next, come the ladybugs and praying mantis eggs. Insects are very cool.
Happy Earth Day!!!!
